Israel Adesanya appears noticeably eager to return to action.
It has been over two years since Adesanya last secured a victory inside the Octagon. After reclaiming the middleweight championship with a devastating knockout against Alex Pereira, `The Last Stylebender` suffered a surprising defeat to Sean Strickland at UFC 293.
Since that time, the renowned 185-pound fighter has experienced two additional losses: a submission defeat to Dricus du Plessis in their title fight in Perth, and a knockout by Nassourdine Imavov in Saudi Arabia this past February.
Following Adesanya`s tough loss to Imavov, many observers suggested that retirement might be a consideration for the Nigerian-New Zealander. However, he quickly committed to another fight, even having a former opponent in mind for a chance at redemption.
Adesanya Open to Any Opponent After Accepting Strickland Rematch Won`t Happen
Strickland`s victory over Adesanya in Sydney is widely regarded as one of the most significant upsets in UFC history, and `The Last Stylebender` has shown a strong desire to avenge it.
Earlier this year, Adesanya issued a challenge to Strickland for a rematch, admitting that a second encounter with the American was the only fight that genuinely interested him.
However, Strickland ignored the callout, and his return to the UFC was subsequently delayed due to a suspension he received after assaulting a regional fighter while cornering a teammate.
With these circumstances in mind, Adesanya has broadened his search for an opponent and is now willing to face anyone, having «moved on» from his former rival.
«I mean, I`m not surprised,» Adesanya told Submission Radio when asked about Strickland ignoring his challenge. «If you want to get something done right, do it right the first time. That’s the lesson I learned.»
«He’s doing other things in his own life. He’s made the money he wanted to make,» Adesanya continued. «I don’t want to be waiting around. I’ve moved on. I just want to fight…I’m staying ready for any and everyone.»

Israel Adesanya Shares Thoughts on Top Contender`s Potential Against Khamzat Chimaev
While Adesanya is no longer a central figure in the middleweight title conversation, he continues to closely monitor the developments at the pinnacle of his division.
`The Last Stylebender` observed in early September as his most recent opponent secured another victory, extending his winning streak. Imavov defeated Caio Borralho at UFC Paris, seemingly earning him the first opportunity to challenge Khamzat Chimaev.
Should that anticipated fight come to fruition, Adesanya stated he would not underestimate the French contender`s chances.
«I`m not gonna count out Imavov now, because of his takedown defense,» Adesanya explained on his YouTube channel. «If he can take away the wrestling from Khamzat, he’ll give him problems. That’s all you have to do. Khamzat can strike, but I see what I see.»
«His wrestling is his main weapon, and he commits a lot to it. He gets the grip, he takes people down, and keeps them down. If Nassourdine can get past that, he’ll give Khamzat problems.»
«Right now, Khamzat is on point, and he’s got the momentum behind him. So has Imavov.»
