The latest weekly update to the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Rankings has brought significant shifts in the second-place positions for both men`s and women`s teams. Following impressive podium finishes at four consecutive Elite events on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, the Dutch duo Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot have reclaimed the number two spot in the men`s ranking. They have now surpassed Sweden`s reigning Olympic champions, David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, who opted out of last week`s Rio de Janeiro Elite tournament in Brazil. More unexpectedly, Brazil`s Carol Solberg and Rebecca Cavalcanti, despite winning gold in Rio, have dropped from their second-place ranking, yielding their spot to Terese Cannon and Megan Kraft of the United States.
FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking – Women
Carol and Rebecca`s Rio victory earned them 1,200 points, but their net gain was only 600 points, as their previous eighth-best result of 600 points was superseded. In contrast, Cannon and Kraft earned 1,000 points for their bronze medal in Brazil and kept the full amount, as it was their eighth qualifying event within the year, meaning no prior points were dropped. The top position in the women`s ranking remains with another Brazilian team, Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes, who secured silver in Rio and boast a total of 8,320 points.
World champion Kelly Cheng, playing with her new partner Molly Shaw, finished fourth in Rio, which saw them climb four places to number nine. This marks the first time this American duo, in their inaugural season together and having accumulated points from seven tournaments, has entered the top 10 of the World Ranking.
Further changes in the women`s top 10 include Germany’s Svenja Muller and Cinja Tillmann moving past Switzerland’s Anouk Verge-Depre and Zoe Verge-Depre into sixth. Additionally, Canadian Olympic silver medalists (Paris 2024) Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson have climbed to 10th place, surpassing Brazil’s reigning Olympic champions Ana Patricia Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda), and USA’s Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher.
Italy’s Valentina Gottardi and Reka Orsi Toth remain in fifth, and Austria’s Dorina Klinger and Ronja Klinger hold eighth place, completing the top 10 as they did last week.
A notable ascent was made by USA’s Julia Donlin and Lexy Denaburg, who reached the quarterfinals in Rio after several significant upsets, moving up six spots from 21st to enter the top 15 for the first time.

The Dutch pair is now 1,260 points behind Norway’s top-ranked Anders Mol and Christian Sorum.
The winners of the Rio de Janeiro tournament, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan of Qatar, who were also world number one for several weeks in 2021 and 2022, climbed five positions. They now share fourth place with Argentina’s Nicolas Capogrosso and Tomas Capogrosso, both pairs having 6,600 points.
Cuba’s Noslen Diaz and Jorge Alayo, runners-up in Rio, made an even bigger leap of nine positions, reaching 11th. They are just below Latvia’s Martins Plavins and Kristians Fokerots, who finished fourth in Rio and maintained their 10th spot.
The remaining teams in the men’s top 10 are Sweden’s Jacob Holting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson (sixth), Brazil’s Evandro Oliveira and Arthur Mariano Lanci (seventh), Poland’s Michal Bryl and Bartosz Losiak (eighth), and Czechia’s world champions Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner (ninth).
